to the St. Charles Comets
The St. Charles Comets 14U Elite team achieved another great step forward in the USSSA "A" State Championship by beating rival Wasco 95 in the first game on Sunday to earn a 4th place finish against a very tough field. We will look to carry this momentum forward to the World Series in St. Louis next week.
Another strong team performance helped the Comets to go undefeated over the weekend to take first place in Elburn's Summer Classic Tournament. The Comets beat Wheaton Briarcliff, Rochelle Vipers, and Plainfield Lighting in close games in pool play, then went on to beat Winfield, Boolingbrook Fury, and then a rematch against the Rochelle Vipers in the championship game where the Comets went on to win 7-0.
After going 1-1-1 in pool play, the team bounced back on Sunday to defeat Naperville, Oswego, and then the Lincoln-Way Blue Wave in the championship game to win the BRW Blast tournament in Burr Ridge.
The St. Charles Comets Elite team went undeafeted in tournament play in June compiling a record of 20-0 and earning 3 consecutive USSSA and ASA Championships. The Comets Elite team finished 3rd in Schaumburg, 3rd in Arlington Heights, 1st in St. Charles, 1st in Aurora, 1st in Glenview, and 2nd in Nebraska at the Cat Osterman Experience.
Two Tournaments are left to close the season: USSSA "A" State Championship in Rockford and USSSA "A" World Series in St. Louis. Go Comets!
The girls had the time of their lives competing against teams from all over the country en route to a 2nd place finish at the COE in Nebraska. The girls won 3 consecutive games in shutouts 10-0, 8,-0, and 4,0 before falling 8-5 in the Championship game. Tough vitories over Utah, Tennessee, Texas, and Palm Beach, FL capped a great week.
The Comets Elite team lost their first tournament game in over a month at the COE, but these teams were very good and will prepare us for USSSA A nationals in St. Louis.
